ownwords
ownwords Privacy Policy
This policy covers the ownwords iPhone app operated by tva Pte Ltd. Visits to tva.sg are covered separately by the general tva website privacy policy.

ownwords stores recordings and imported audio, titles, dates, highlights, transcripts, summaries, tasks and processing settings locally. Optional speaker recognition stores names and learned voice signatures. Linking a selected contact may store its identifier, display name and phone number. Optional calendar matching can store event information and participants with a recording.
This release has no ownwords account, tva cloud copy, advertising SDK or ownwords analytics backend. Your recordings and transcripts are not sent to tva for processing.
Local processing and model downloads
ownwords requests on-device processing from Apple Speech. Whisper and SpeakerKit run locally. Summaries use on-device Apple Intelligence when available, otherwise a local rule-based analyzer. Availability depends on your device, language and installed models. Results can be inaccurate; check them against the recording.
Optional model downloads contact Hugging Face and its delivery infrastructure. These providers receive ordinary connection information, including your IP address and requested files, under their own policies. Downloads do not include your audio or transcripts. A Wi-Fi-only setting is available. These providers also use connection data for security and download statistics, including approximate location inferred from your IP address. Apple manages downloads for its system features.
Permissions and your choices
Microphone access is used when you start recording. Recording can continue in the background until paused, stopped, interrupted or ended by iOS. Apple Speech needs speech-recognition permission. Calendar access is optional. Contact linking uses the Apple contact picker; ownwords does not import your whole address book.
Manage permissions in iPhone Settings. Optional speaker recognition, sentiment analysis and cross-meeting analysis can be disabled in ownwords. This does not erase earlier results or voice profiles. Inform everyone involved and obtain their agreement before recording.
Importing and sharing
The Share Extension copies incoming audio into a local shared app inbox. Repeatedly failing imports are held in a bounded local quarantine. Sharing exports only the content you choose through the iOS share sheet. Your chosen apps, recipients and storage providers handle shared copies under their own policies.
Storage, backups and deletion
Recordings and results remain in local app storage until you delete them. Deleting a recording removes its audio, metadata and results from active storage. Manage voice profiles separately: deleting a profile removes its learned signature and person assignments, but keeps recordings and your iPhone contact.
Downloaded models can be deleted separately and completed model downloads are excluded from device backups. Other app data may be included in iCloud or computer backups according to your settings. Local deletion does not delete earlier backups or exports. ownwords uses iOS data protection; it cannot guarantee erasure from every backup or storage medium.
Support and privacy requests
If you email [email protected], tva receives your address, message and any attachments you choose to send. They are used to answer your request and retained as needed to handle it and meet applicable legal obligations. You can request access, correction or deletion through the same address. Please do not send private conversations unless you intend to share them.
tva cannot retrieve local-only recordings or delete them remotely because it has no server copy. Use the app and device controls for that data. Opening support or privacy pages is governed by the separate website policy linked above.
